for Community of Practice

A short, plain agreement between you and the community. By using this platform, you accept everything below. Nothing here should surprise you.

Agreeing

These Terms form the agreement between you ("you", the Member) and Community of Practice ("we", "us", the Platform). Registering, signing in, or using any part of the Platform means you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If anything here does not work for you, the correct step is simply not to use the Platform.

02

What this is

The Community of Practice is a working space for trainers, practitioners, institutions, industry partners and learners in Dual TVET. It exists so members can swap ideas, share resources, run sessions, and sharpen practice together.

It includes community groups, discussion boards, a member directory, live rooms, and a library of materials. We may add, change or retire features whenever we need to.

03

Membership

To join, you must be old enough in your own country to enter a binding contract, and you must give truthful, current details at signup.

Your password stays your responsibility. Anything done through your account counts as your activity. Write to info@kstvet.ac.ke the moment you suspect someone else has access.

We may decline, pause or revoke membership where the community's focus or safety is at risk.

04

Conduct

This is a professional space. Contributions should raise the room. In plain terms, do not:

  • harass, threaten or demean another member;
  • post content that is discriminatory, hateful or incites harm;
  • spread disinformation or pass opinion off as fact;
  • pose as someone else or misstate your affiliation;
  • probe, scan or breach the Platform's security;
  • crawl, mirror or bulk-export content or member lists;
  • run cold advertising, recruitment spam or pyramid schemes;
  • disrupt meetings, webinars or live sessions run by others.
Recordings. Some live sessions are recorded so members who could not attend can still benefit. You will always be told before a session starts if it is being recorded. Joining a recorded session means you accept that.
05

Your posts

Everything you upload or share — text, images, slide decks, documents, video — stays yours. We claim no ownership of it.

What we ask for is a licence: by posting, you allow us to store, format, display and distribute your contribution inside the Platform, and to keep it available to other members while it remains useful. This ends when you delete the content or close your account, unless it has already been quoted or reshared by others.

You confirm that what you post is yours to share or properly licensed, does not infringe anyone's rights, and complies with applicable law.

We do not pre-screen every post. We may edit, hide or remove anything that breaches these Terms, with or without notice.

06

Ownership

The Platform's name, logo, layout, source code and original publications belong to us or to the parties who licensed them to us. You may not republish them as your own, resell them, or build a competing product from them without written permission.

Quoting another member's post with attribution is fine. Republishing large portions elsewhere without asking is not.

07

Privacy

How we gather, hold and use personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement. In short: we collect the minimum needed to run the community, we do not sell it, and you can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold.

08

Outside tools

The Platform links to and embeds outside services — video rooms, file stores, scheduling tools, social networks. Those services have their own terms and their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for what they do, and using them is at your own discretion.

09

Leaving

You may close your account at any time by writing to us. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, if your conduct harms other members, or if the law requires it. When access ends, the clauses that logically survive — ownership, disclaimers, limits on responsibility — continue to apply.

10

Promises

The Platform is offered on an "as is" basis. We work to keep it running well, but we cannot promise it will always be available, always be bug-free, or that everything another member posts is accurate. Treat what you read as professional exchange, not as technical, legal or financial advice.

11

Responsibility

To the extent the law allows, the Community of Practice, its team, and its institutional partners are not liable for indirect or consequential losses — lost income, lost data, lost opportunities — arising from your use of the Platform.

12

Updates

We will revise these Terms when the Platform changes, when our practices change, or when the law requires it. The version date at the top always reflects the current text. Where a change is significant, we will flag it inside the Platform or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Platform afterwards means you accept the revised version.

13

Law

These Terms are interpreted under the laws of the Republic of Kenya. If a dispute arises between you and us regarding the Platform, the courts of Nairobi have exclusive jurisdiction, unless a mandatory rule in your own country says otherwise.
