01
Our story
Community of Practice began with a simple observation: the people doing the hardest work in Dual TVET — the trainers on the floor, the coordinators bridging schools and industry, the practitioners solving real problems — rarely get a space to compare notes.
This community is that space. It brings those people together so that what works in one institution can travel to another, and so that the daily craft of teaching and coordinating skills gets the attention it deserves.
02
Why we exist
Dual TVET is not a single programme — it is a way of working that links learning to real industry, and apprentices to real work. It succeeds when practitioners have each other to lean on.
We exist to make that leaning easy. To shorten the distance between one institution's breakthrough and another's starting point. To hold the practical knowledge that rarely makes it into a policy document but that changes how a workshop runs on Monday morning.
03
What we do
The platform carries a range of activities — some formal, some informal:
- Host discussion forums where members trade methods, tools and troubleshooting;
- Run live sessions — webinars, workshops and peer clinics;
- Curate a library of practical resources: templates, case notes, curricula fragments, assessment ideas;
- Maintain a directory so members can find each other by expertise and interest;
- Keep an activity stream that surfaces what's currently alive in the community;
- Run interest groups around specific trades, regions or themes.
04
Who it's for
Membership is open to anyone with a working interest in Dual TVET, including:
- Trainers and instructors in TVET institutions;
- Heads of department, principals and programme coordinators;
- Industry partners and workplace supervisors who mentor apprentices;
- Curriculum developers, assessors and quality-assurance staff;
- Policy makers, researchers and funders in the TVET space;
- Learners in advanced Dual TVET programmes who want to understand the field they're entering.
05
How we work
Three principles guide how the community runs:
- Practice first. We favour the concrete — what you tried, what worked, what you'd do differently — over the abstract.
- Open by default, private when it matters. Members decide what's public and what isn't. Nothing is shared beyond the community without your say-so.
- Credit where it's due. When someone shares a method, a template or a fix, their name travels with it.
06
Our pillars
Four commitments shape everything the community does:
Practice
Real classrooms, real workshops, real apprentices — the community is anchored in work that happens on the ground.
Partnership
Dual TVET only works when institutions and industry move together. We build that relationship into the platform itself.
Openness
Good ideas spread faster when they're shared. Most contributions here are visible to every member.
Care
A professional space is a respectful one. We moderate to keep it that way.
07
What you'll find
Once you join, the platform gives you access to:
- Groups — interest- and region-based spaces for focused conversation;
- Discussions — a forum for questions, case studies and quick troubleshooting;
- Connections — a member directory to find peers by expertise, institution or region;
- Schedule — upcoming live sessions, workshops and community events;
- Updates — a running feed of what's newest in the community;
- Library — resources uploaded and curated by members.
08
House rules
Two short expectations make the rest work:
- Treat every member as a colleague. Disagreement is welcome; disrespect is not.
- Share what you'd want shared with you — useful, honest, and credited.

Our partners
The community is strengthened by partnership with TVET institutions, industry bodies, development partners and training centres working on Dual TVET in the region and beyond.
If you represent an institution or employer and would like to explore a formal collaboration, write to us. We are always open to conversations that widen the room.
