About the Academy

A national hub for industry-driven dual training.

The Academy equips TVET institutions with the skills, knowledge and resources they need to design and deliver inclusive, industry-driven dual training programmes that empower young women and men for meaningful employment.

It is a Kenyan initiative, proudly led by KSTVET, and its establishment has been made possible with the support of international cooperation partners including GIZ. That support complements Kenya's long-term commitment to building a skilled and competitive workforce.

Our mission

To anchor dual training as a core feature of Kenya's TVET system by building the capacity of institutions, fostering collaboration with industry, and ensuring that training meets the demands of a changing labour market.

Our objectives

What the Academy sets out to do.

1

Build institutional capacity and partnerships

Strengthen the capacity of institutions to design and implement dual training programmes, and foster partnerships between TVET institutions, industry and government so training stays aligned with market needs.

2

Promote innovation and sustainability

Advance innovation and sustainability in TVET through themes such as digitalisation, greening, gender equality and social inclusion.

3

Support national strategies

Contribute to national strategies including Kenya Vision 2030, the TVET Blueprint and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

Our approach

Classroom learning, plus real work.

Dual TVET combines classroom-based learning with structured, hands-on training in the workplace. Learners don't only acquire knowledge — they gain the practical experience needed to thrive in today's dynamic economy.

By bridging education and industry, the Academy helps create a skilled, adaptable workforce that contributes to Kenya's economic growth.
